About the role
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. Responsibilities
- Provides surgical assistance in a safe, appropriate and effective manner under the direction of a Registered Nurse/MD, in compliance with the Surgical Technician II standards of practice.
- List of broad job specific functions.
- Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform all aspects of surgical techniques/procedures.
- Serves as a role model and assists new staff members or students.
- Serves as a preceptor for new employees/students in the scrub role.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights.
- Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees.
- Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient-family-significant other expectations.
- Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and discretion.
- Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements Qualifications/Work Experience:
- Proficient in scrubbing a minimum of 4 specialties required.
- 2 years acute care surgical technician experience and CST surgical scrub technician certification required, OR 10 years acute care surgical technician experience required.
- Computer, internet, order entry and word processing experience preferred.
- Proficient in medical terminology.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a surgical scrub technician program, armed services training program, or equivalent training required.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card required.

Pay
$33.79/hr. - $49.00/hr. Bonus: $3,000.00 – Sign on bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements.
Schedule
Days – 12 hour shifts (0630 - 1900)
