About The Unit

Reed City Emergency Department is a community-based hospital within the Corewell Healthcare System. The unit has 20 treatment spaces for patients with minor to major medical and traumatic emergencies. Our interdisciplinary team collaborates closely to provide relationship-based care for patients and their loved ones. We value teamwork, culture, and process improvement from every team member.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including taking vitals, checking blood sugar, wound care, bed bathing, toileting, ambulating, and catheterization.
• Act as a safety attendant for patients as needed.
• Perform postmortem care.
• Conduct EKGs and change over/clean rooms in the Emergency Department.
• Float to Big Rapids Hospital for shifts if needed.
• Act as a team member in delivering quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
• Perform basic skills per department guidelines and communicate observations to the healthcare team.
• Collect and report physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with the RN or Provider.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through AHA or ARC is required within 90 days of employment.
