About the Role

As our Student Nurse Tech, you will provide nursing care and support to patients under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse within a defined care team and in accordance with assigned tasks. You will assume responsibility for the implementation and documentation of delegated and/or supervised care for all assigned patients following established procedures. You will care for patients with a variety of acute to critical medical/surgical problems, ranging from neonates to geriatrics at various developmental levels. Patients come from both traditional and nontraditional family structures with diverse sociocultural and educational backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient personal care and hygiene, including feeding, bathing, shaving, changing clothes, bed making, ambulation, lifting, turning, moving, transferring, enemas, skin care, and bowel/bladder elimination.
  • Deliver additional care as required to meet the personal primary needs and comfort of assigned patients based on skill, ability, and patient acuity.
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for specific procedures and examinations.
  • Perform, monitor, report, and document all clinical activities within assigned tasks.
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition to the RN.
  • Assist nursing staff in the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients by inventorying/storing patient belongings, providing personal care items, orienting patients/families, and transporting patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, or patient beds.
  • Provide patient information to nursing staff for inclusion in the interdisciplinary plan of care; document relevant patient data according to work unit standards.
  • Maintain a neat and organized work environment; order, stock, and replenish supplies and equipment as necessary. Identify and report problems with supplies or equipment, enter repair requests, tag equipment, and remove from service.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives and activities.
  • Engage in growth opportunities and ongoing education to prepare for the RN role, remaining within scope at all times.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment and good standing in a full-time Nursing Program, such as an accredited Baccalaureate Nursing Program, RN Associate Degree program, or LPN to RN nursing program.
  • Must be listed on a Nurse Assistant Registry operated by the North Dakota Board of Nursing. If not on a registry, must obtain placement immediately following orientation and training.
  • BLS or BLS instructor certification required upon hire.

Pay

$20.00 per hour.
