Position Summary

The Registered Nurse Team Leader oversees the daily operations, clinical workflows, and nursing staff within a designated pediatric patient care unit. This role combines expert clinical nursing skills with foundational leadership capabilities to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and family-centered care. The role serves as a primary resource for staff nurses and nurse’s aides, collaborating closely with nursing leadership and multidisciplinary therapeutic teams.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of progressive pediatric acute or sub-acute nursing experience, with a strong preference for pediatric rehabilitation, pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), or specialized pediatric long-term care.
  • Minimum 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience (e.g. Charge Nurse, Preceptor, Committee Chair, or permanent / interim team leader role).
  • Advanced clinical skills specific to medically complex, technology-dependent pediatrics (e.g. vent/trach management, complex feeding tubes, advanced wound care).
  • Exceptional communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse families and across functional clinical teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to balance direct patient care support with shift operational duties.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) platforms such as Meditech/Expanse, MS Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, pptx, OneNote, MS Bookings, MS Forms), Google Suite, Voalte.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution in the US required.
  • Masters degree in nursing or healthcare administration is a plus.
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended.
  • Certified Pediatric Nursing (CPN) or other relevant clinical leadership certifications preferred.
