The Center for Health Care Quality (CHCQ) focuses on ensuring and enhancing healthcare standards through regulatory oversight, quality assessment, and collaboration with healthcare providers to safeguard public health. CHCQ oversees the certification of nurse assistants, home health aides, hemodialysis technicians, and the licensing of nursing home administrators.
About the role
This position supports CDPH’s mission by overseeing the review, evaluation, inspection, and certification of health facilities and agencies for compliance with State and Federal laws, as well as investigating complaints. The Nurse Surveyor Supervisor II (NSS II) ensures Department and Program mandates, policies, and procedures are carried out consistently within a designated region of the state. Up to 10% travel may be required.
The incumbent works under the general direction of the Nurse Surveyor Manager and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule in accordance with CDPH’s Telework Policy and Procedures.
All employees who telework must be California residents. Candidates residing outside California may be interviewed, but the selected candidate must establish primary residency in California prior to appointment.
This position is subject to the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025, which temporarily reduces the monthly base pay by 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown do not reflect this reduction.
Responsibilities
- Oversee review, evaluation, inspection, and certification of health facilities and agencies for compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations.
- Investigate complaints related to facilities and agencies under CHCQ jurisdiction.
- Ensure consistent implementation of Department and Program mandates, policies, and procedures.
- Carry out program activities within a specific region of the state.
Pay
$8,660.00 - $10,758.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range, when applicable.
Employees appointed to this classification receive a Recruitment and Retention Differential of $200 per month.
Schedule
Permanent, full-time position. A hybrid telework schedule may be available, with the amount of telework at the discretion of the Department.
Travel reimbursement is subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. Commute expenses to the designated headquarters office (Butte County) are the responsibility of the selected candidate.
