CHCQ oversees the certification of nurse assistants, home health aides, hemodialysis technicians, and the licensing of nursing home administrators.

About the role

This position supports CDPH’s mission by providing first-level supervision to Nurse Surveyors responsible for surveying healthcare facilities and enforcing licensing and certification standards in accordance with State, Federal, and local laws. The Nurse Surveyor Supervisor I (NSS I) reviews reports, surveys, and correspondence prepared by field staff and State Fire Marshals, and communicates with the public and facility operators on policy, procedures, and regulatory interpretations. The role ensures quality work and performance to achieve departmental goals. Up to 25% travel is required.

Employees appointed to this classification receive a Recruitment and Retention Differential of $200 per month.

In July 2025, this position became subject to the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025, which temporarily reduces the monthly base pay by 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown do not reflect this reduction.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Nurse Surveyors responsible for surveying healthcare facilities and enforcing licensing and certification standards.
• Review all reports, surveys, and correspondence prepared by field staff and State Fire Marshals.
• Communicate with the public and healthcare facility operators/administrators on policy, procedures, and regulatory interpretations.
• Collaborate with program personnel to ensure quality work and performance toward established goals.

Pay

$8,240.00 - $10,246.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range, where applicable.

Schedule

Permanent, full-time position. Work location: Ventura County. In-office with telework options.
