Position Overview

Henry Ford Health System is seeking a contingent Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Critical Care team in West Bloomfield, MI. This highly autonomous role provides inpatient critical care coverage across the Medical, Surgical, and Neuro Intensive Care Units in collaboration with, but not necessarily in the presence of, a board-certified intensivist. Providers will deliver emergent and inpatient critical care by obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, making diagnoses, and developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans. Working closely with staff physicians, house officers, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams, the APP will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced critical care environment. This position is ideal for candidates with strong medical or surgical backgrounds, exceptional critical thinking skills, and the ability to function effectively within a collaborative team setting while maintaining a high degree of independent clinical decision-making. The role offers significant procedural opportunities, including intubation, central venous catheter placement, arterial line placement, temporary hemodialysis catheter placement, thoracentesis, and paracentesis. Procedural experience is preferred but not required, as all Department of Medicine procedures are individually credentialed based on training and experience. This position features no call responsibilities, 1 weekend per month, and offering the opportunity to practice at the top of scope while delivering exceptional patient-centered critical care.
