Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension.
Essential Functions
- Rounding on patients on hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis or kidney transplant recipients.
- Attend one half day clinic session per week and/or rounding on chronic dialysis shift patients in the community settings.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
- Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice.
- Participate in research and development projects.
- Participate in education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioners and medical students.
- Manage in-patient and out-patient e-consult volumes.
- Participation in the holiday coverage schedule is expected and will be coordinated equitably across the team.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need.
Required Education
- Nurse Practitioner: Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Physician Assistant: Master’s Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Required Experience
- Nurse Practitioner: Three (3) years nursing experience.
- Physician Assistant: N/A
Required Trainings/Certifications
- Nurse Practitioner: Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority. Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.
- Physician Assistant: Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority. Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
