Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant, Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Hypertension Division

Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension.

Essential Functions

• Rounding on patients on hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis or kidney transplant recipients.
• Attend one half day clinic session per week and/or rounding on chronic dialysis shift patients in the community settings.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
• Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice.
• Participate in research and development projects.
• Participate in education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioners and medical students.
• Manage in-patient and out-patient e-consult volumes.
• Participation in the holiday coverage schedule is expected and will be coordinated equitably across the team.
• Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education

• Nurse Practitioner: Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
• Physician Assistant: Master’s Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Required Experience

• Nurse Practitioner: Three (3) years nursing experience.
• Physician Assistant: N/A

Required Trainings/Certifications

• Nurse Practitioner: Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority. Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.
• Physician Assistant: Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority. Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
