NaphCare is hiring a Nurse Practitioner to join our team of medical professionals in Las Vegas, NV, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Clark County Detention Center.
Pay
$63.00 - $66.50 per hour
About the role
As a Correctional Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to individuals in residence within a controlled environment where security is a top priority. This unique position allows you to make a difference in a diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
- Conducting physical examinations, developing treatment plans, and monitoring patients
- Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes
- Administering medications and providing instructions to patients
- Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs and medical histories
- Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services
- Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities
- Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention
- Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals
- Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting relevant information
- Conducting rounds and evaluating patients returning from off-site treatment
- Admitting and discharging patients from the facility
Requirements
- Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate)
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
- Unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in NV
- Current DEA registration
- Appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician
- Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
- Certification in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
- Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable healthcare laws and regulations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and in a team
- Experience working in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plus
- Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances
- Perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
