COORDINATES AND DELIVERS PRIMARY AND NURSING CARE
- Working within the approved scope of practice as designated for this type of professional.
- Obtaining complete medical history and physical data on patients.
- Interpreting and integrating data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
- Performing a complete physical exam and recording findings.
- Collaborating with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
- Ordering appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Synthesizing data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
- Administering medications and injections according to physician direction. Suturing minor lacerations.
- Interviewing and advising patients regarding health and illness prevention.
- Recommending community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Instructing patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Maintaining and reviewing patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
- Posting tests and examination results.
- Triage patient telephone calls and providing consultation.
- Coordinating or when appropriate managing medical and surgical emergencies.
- Providing monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
PROVIDES CLINICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE TO BMG PROGRAMS
- Participating in health education.
- Maintaining related records and statistical data and preparing statistical reports as needed.
- Participating in interdisciplinary care conferences and assisting with referrals and dissemination of information to appropriate vendors.
- Aiding in the development and coordination of ongoing education and follow-up programs designed to measure client outcomes.
PERFORMS OTHER FUNCTIONS TO MAINTAIN PERSONAL COMPETENCE AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE OVERALL EFFECTIVENESS OF THE DEPARTMENT
- Assisting in development and compliance of clinical protocols, policies and procedures.
- Participating in quality review and improvement programs; monitoring quality and outcomes of care rendered.
- Communicating with physician(s) to ensure the quality and timeliness for services rendered to patients.
- Performing other job related assignments and special projects as directed.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- A valid and current RN license in the state of Indiana is required.
- The successful completion of a nurse practitioner program with applicable national certification is required.
- Two years of clinical nursing experience in practice area and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner six month internship for new graduates or comparable experience is required.
- A Master's of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Attainment of prescriptive authority or successful completion of applicable course work and pass state board exam to obtain prescriptive authority within six months of hire date.
- Bilingual speaking and/or writing skills are a plus.
