About the role
This Nurse Practitioner position is employed by Family Care Health Centers (FCHC) and primarily assigned to the University City High School School-Based Health Center. The role involves providing comprehensive obstetrics and women’s health services while collaborating with FCHC providers, clinical staff, and school personnel to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care. Participation in meetings, trainings, and organizational activities at other FCHC locations may be required as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, individual health care including client counseling, teaching, referral, and follow-up in accordance with Center protocols.
- Consult with the physician for specified treatments and medications not described in Center protocols.
- Oversee training and quality assurance for medical assistants and nurses working with women’s health providers.
- Supervise handling and training for all women’s health medical procedural equipment.
- Provide supervisory counseling and problem-solving for working relationships between women’s health medical assistants, nurses, and providers.
- Act as a resource to the OB/Women’s Health Team to support coordination of Centering Pregnancy activities at all FCHC sites.
- Direct programs related to contraception counseling and methods.
- Maintain awareness of women’s health patient care needs across FCHC and ensure quality indicators and goals are achieved.
- Attend Team Leader Meetings as necessary and by invitation.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic and screening tests as appropriate.
- Consult with staff regarding comprehensive health care of clients and their families.
- Refer clients to other Center staff or community resources as necessary.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs on prevention and family health promotion for clients and the community.
- Develop and maintain policies, protocols, records, reports, and statistical data relevant to services provided.
- Ensure protocols developed with Center physicians are current and adequate for nurse practitioner practices.
- Participate in staff in-service programs related to comprehensive health care.
- Precept nurse practitioner students from affiliated Nurse Practitioner Programs, including orientation and evaluation.
- Participate in Health Center staff problem-solving groups and department meetings as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Missouri and in good standing.
- Master’s Degree in Family and/or Adult Nursing and/or Women’s Health preferred.
- Certified or eligible for certification as a Family and/or Adult and/or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.
- One or more years of practice as a Family and/or Adult and/or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner preferred.
- One or more years of supervisory or management experience preferred.

Pay
$71.52 per hour.
