Nurse Practitioner / Assistant Director of Nursing, Ambulatory Care, Suite D Pediatrics

About the role

The Department of Ambulatory Care Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University seeks a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing / Nurse Practitioner for the Suite D Pediatrics.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary care services to individuals and families, including care for your own panel of patients and seeing walk-in patients as needed.
• Document all care provided in the patients medical records.
• Develop and maintain a patient care panel, participating in managed care programs and other direct patient care programs as applicable.
• On a daily basis, review all laboratory and radiology reports to identify abnormal results for urgent follow-up; ensure patients are contacted for additional care and that their primary providers are notified.
• Participate in and provide departmental and Family Medicine educational activities for medical students and allied health professionals.
• Participate in hospital and departmental health fairs, community education events, and speak to community groups, when requested.

Qualifications

• Master of Science Degree in Nursing.
• New York State Registered Nurse Licensure with Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
• BCLS certification.
• 2+ years of relevant clinical work experience as an FNP (preferred).
