About the role
The Department of Ambulatory Care Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University seeks a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing/Nurse Practitioner.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary care services to individuals and families, including care for the incumbent's own panel of patients and seeing walk-in patients as needed.
- Document all care provided in the patients medical records.
- Develop, maintain, and manage patient care panels, participating in managed care programs and other direct patient care programs as applicable.
- On a daily basis, review all laboratory and radiology reports to identify abnormal results for urgent follow-up; ensure patients are contacted to arrange additional care and that their primary providers are notified.
- Participate in and provide departmental and Family Medicine educational activities for medical students and allied health professional students.
- Participate in hospital and departmental health fairs, community education events, and speak to community groups, when requested.
Qualifications
- Master of Science Degree in Nursing.
- New York State Registered Nurse Licensure with Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
- BCLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of relevant clinical work experience as an FNP.
