Role overview
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma collection operations by assessing donor eligibility, managing adverse events, reviewing lab results, and ensuring donor safety. They work under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician, adhering to industry regulations and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility through medical history, physical exams, and lab test reviews.
- Evaluate and manage donor reactions and emergencies following SOPs.
- Refer complex cases to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs.
- Support vaccination programs and manage employee incidents per EHS guidance.
- Assist as a Pandemic Coordinator if authorized, supporting investigations related to community health threats.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a recognized nursing program.
- State licensure as LPN or LVN.
- CPR and AED certified.
- Experience in clinical or hospital settings (minimum two years).
- Knowledge of industry regulations, basic IV therapy, and FDA training completion.
