Nurse (Outpatient)

About the role

Nurses at the Indian Health Service (IHS) play a vital role in delivering compassionate care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Guided by the IHS mission to improve the health of these populations, nurses provide essential medical services in remote and underserved areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of illnesses and injuries.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
• Conduct health assessments and screenings to identify potential health issues early.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Document patient progress and communicate with family members and other healthcare providers as necessary.

Requirements

• A current license to practice nursing in the state where the position is located.
• Completion of an approved nursing program.
• Experience in providing care to American Indian and Alaska Native populations preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Pass a background check.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $45,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
