Nurse (Outpatient)

About the role

Nurses at the Indian Health Service (IHS) are dedicated professionals who provide compassionate care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Guided by the IHS mission to improve the health of these populations, nurses play a crucial role in delivering care where it is most needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate and effective medical care to patients in diverse settings.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health promotion and disease prevention.
• Contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives within the healthcare system.

Requirements

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution is required. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Arizona is also necessary. Candidates must have a valid REAL ID by May 7, 2025, as per 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Qualifications

Experience in acute care settings is preferred, but not required. Strong communication skills, empathy, and cultural competency are essential. Proficiency in multiple languages may be beneficial.

Skills

Effective problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are key. Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to handle sensitive and confidential information are also important.
