About the role
The Indian Health Service (IHS) seeks dedicated Registered Nurses to provide comprehensive, evidence-based, and patient-centered care in an ambulatory setting. Our nurses play a vital role in improving the health of American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Provide oversight and direction to licensed vocational nurses and nursing assistants.
- Contribute to care coordination, health promotion, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Experience: At least one year of professional nursing experience, equivalent to the GS-5 grade level or above, or a combination of education and experience meeting the minimum qualifications.
Qualifications
- A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
- Pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
- Basic Requirements: Possession of a bachelor's degree in Nursing or a diploma/associate degree in professional nursing with one full year of professional nursing experience.
- Minimum Qualifications: At least one year of specialized experience in outpatient nursing duties, including triage, patient assessment, and implementing provider/clinic standing orders.
