About the role
The Indian Health Service (IHS) seeks dedicated Registered Nurses to provide comprehensive, evidence-based, and patient-centered care in an ambulatory setting. Our mission is to improve the health of American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Provide oversight and direction to licensed vocational nurses and nursing assistants.
- Contribute to care coordination, health promotion, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Experience: The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Qualifications
- A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
- Pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
- One full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-5 grade level) is required for the GS-5 grade level.
- Two full years of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level) is required for the GS-7 grade level.
- At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) is required for the GS-9 grade level.
Skills
Nurses in this role should demonstrate professional competence, leadership, and sound clinical judgment.
