About the role
Nurses at the Indian Health Service (IHS) play a vital role in delivering compassionate care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Guided by the IHS mission to improve the health of these populations, nurses provide essential medical services where they are most needed.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality healthcare services to patients in diverse settings.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families.
- Contribute to research and educational initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes for Indigenous peoples.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required. Additional requirements may include:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
- Experience working with Indigenous populations preferred.
- Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must:
- Have a strong commitment to public service and community health.
- Be willing to relocate to a designated IHS facility.
- Meet eligibility criteria for a recruitment/relocation sign-on bonus.
