Nurse Manager - Urgent Care and Endoscopy

Location: CHA Somerville Campus | Full-time, non-union position | Day shift: Mon–Fri 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (40 hours/week)

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Nurse Manager to lead both our Urgent Care and Endoscopy departments. In this dual-leadership role, you will have 24/7 operational and clinical accountability, championing high-quality, patient-centered care, mentoring multidisciplinary clinical teams, and ensuring seamless patient flow and regulatory compliance across two fast-paced, distinct service lines.

Responsibilities

Department Operations & Clinical Leadership

  • Urgent Care: Optimize patient throughput, manage daily walk-in workflows, and maintain high standards of rapid, episodic care.
  • Endoscopy: Oversee procedure rooms, pre- and post-procedure recovery areas, and GI scheduling department. Ensure strict adherence to endoscope reprocessing and safe practices in procedural areas according to SGNA guidelines and recommendations.

Staff Management & Development

  • Lead human resource activities including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and competency assessments.
  • Develop staffing schedules and flex nursing assignments to meet varying patient acuity and census guidelines.
  • Engage, mentor, and empower clinical staff to achieve professional growth and unit retention.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Drive continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives and monitor key clinical indicators.
  • Lead regulatory and accreditation readiness (e.g., The Joint Commission, DPH, OSHA).
  • Promote a culture of safety, high reliability, and service excellence.

Financial & Business Management

  • Develop, manage, and continuously monitor operational and salary budgets for both departments.
  • Oversee inventory control, cost containment, and equipment selection/maintenance.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master’s degree (MSN/MHA) strongly preferred.
  • Licensure: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of recent clinical experience in Urgent Care, Emergency, or Procedural/Endoscopy services.
  • Leadership: Minimum of 2–3 years of management or clinical leadership experience (e.g., Charge Nurse, Assistant Nurse Manager).
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. CGRN certification preferred.
