About the Role

As Cleveland Clinic Main Campus expands, we are creating a comprehensive program to transform trauma care for our community and beyond. This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape and build a premier trauma program from the ground up, working toward Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center activation. The future Trauma Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a new 14-bed ICU that will provide comprehensive post-resuscitation critical care for patients with complex traumatic injuries. Patients will transition to this unit after initial stabilization in the Emergency Department or Operating Room and receive specialized intensive care throughout their recovery. This unit will integrate expertise from surgical, neurological, medical, cardiovascular, and trauma specialties.

As the Nurse Manager, you will build and lead a new Trauma ICU team, recruit and develop nurses with strong critical care foundations, establish the unit’s culture, workflows, and operating expectations, and create standards for quality, safety, teamwork, and caregiver development. You will partner closely with trauma leadership, physicians, advanced practice providers, Emergency Department, Operating Room, and critical care teams to define the trauma ICU care model and ensure seamless collaboration across the continuum of care.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operation and practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.
  • Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision, and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
  • Supervise caregivers and promote their development.
  • Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate unit operations with other units/departments.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases, and establish/revise inventory quotes.
  • Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.
  • Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes, and develop strategic plans.
  • Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Three years of recent nursing clinical experience with at least one year of healthcare management experience.
  • High degree of clinical expertise in specialty area managed.
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, and group process skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Two years of healthcare management experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Pay Range Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00

The pay range displayed reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).

Schedule

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
