Trauma Nurse Manager
About the role
The Manager oversees the daily function and staffing of the unit/department, ensuring high quality, patient-centered care. They monitor and evaluate nursing care, support evidence-based practices, and foster a culture of accountability and transparency.
Responsibilities
- Maintain staffing in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to standards of care and regulatory standards.
- Manage admissions and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
- Facilitate effective interdisciplinary care coordination within and across departments.
- Assign staff with appropriate clinical competencies to meet patient care needs.
- Operationalize evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes.
- Support the achievement of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Manage equipment maintenance to ensure compliance with regulatory and/or accreditation standards.
- Review various feedback mechanisms and help identify opportunities to improve customer/patient satisfaction.
- Leverage various feedback mechanisms to benchmark performance and identify opportunities to improve patient satisfaction.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and other leaders to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
- Engage in service recovery when necessary.
- Support the development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience.
- Manage operating expenses, including the utilization of supplies and equipment.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities and implement actions to achieve savings.
Requirements
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Registered Nurse
- Bachelor's Degree
- New hires must obtain specialty certification within 6 months of hire
Qualifications
- Current managers of inpatient units have 6 months to obtain specialty/leadership certification.
Skills
Leadership skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, and strong communication skills are essential.
