Nurse Manager-Specialty

About the role

To provide leadership and management to all nursing, personnel, and ancillary personnel within an assigned area or units in a clinical setting. Manages all clinical functions and operations of the assigned area or units. Ensures efficient and effective delivery of clinical patient care and services and ensures compliance with administrative, regulatory, and clinical policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manages and directs the operations and delivery of patient care within budgetary, staffing, and regulatory guidelines, using evidence-based practice.
• Ensures that personnel demonstrate quality standards of customer satisfaction and patient care.
• Manages nursing and ancillary personnel within an assigned area or unit by coaching, educating, consulting, training, and evaluating their performance.
• Plans, schedules, and organizes the work of the assigned area or unit to ensure the proper distribution of assignments and efficient utilization of clinical personnel, space, and facilities.
• Participates in planning, preparing, and prioritizing budgets for assigned areas of responsibility. Monitors compliance, investigates variances, and provides plans for remediation.
• Assures compliance with productivity standards for assigned area/units.
• Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities to enhance the delivery of clinical care.
• Serves on at least one nursing council, hospital, or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area.
• Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Five (5) years of RN experience, two (2) of those years in a leadership role.
• Valid RN license.
• Preferred: clinical experience in the area to be supervised/managed.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood-borne pathogens, fumes, or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals (requires attention to safety considerations).
• Occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours.

• Occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature.
