About the role

The Surgery and Outpatient Scheduling Manager oversees the Horizon Surgical Manager and Pathways Healthcare Scheduling Systems. This role involves coordination and oversight of Perioperative and outpatient departments.

Responsibilities

• Master file maintenance and training of end-users for Horizon Surgical Manager
• Training and troubleshooting for custom reports on Horizon Surgical Manager
• Coordination of Perioperative Departments including OR, PACU, Anesthesia, Ambulatory Surgery, Ambulatory Diagnostics Unit, Sterile Supply
• Coordination of outpatient departments including Heart Institute, Pulmonary Function, Radiology, Outpatient Oncology, and Rehab Services
• Handling human elements of scheduling, ensuring cost-effective coordination and positive patient satisfaction
• Direct supervision of two Perioperative Services areas and leading schedulers in five outpatient departments
• Coordinating with Materials Management for surgical supply inventory, Clinical Information Systems for patient charging, and Patient Financial Services for billing
• Ensuring compliance with Local Medical Review Policies for Medicare reimbursement
• System integration to invoke medical necessity checking at time of scheduling

Requirements

Extensive knowledge of Local Medical Review Policies is required for Medicare reimbursement. Extensive knowledge of clinical protocols related to surgery and outpatient services scheduling is necessary. Technical computer skills and clinical expertise are essential. Knowledge of materials management, patient financial services, and clinical information systems is required. Extensive knowledge of Local Medical Review Policies is required for Medicare reimbursement.
