Nurse Manager of General Surgery/Med Surg

Job Summary

Promotes and restores patients' health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area; directing and developing staff; demonstrating fiscal responsibility; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff; ensure an environment conducive to patient and family centered care.

Job Requirements

• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing within two years
• Minimum Work Experience: 2 years of acute care
• Required Licenses/Certifications: Current Texas RN license, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (required before completion of orientation)
• Required Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities:
  • Compile, analyze, and present reports
  • Develop, review, and revise applicable policies, procedures, and job guides
  • Compose letters/memoranda
  • Cook up, review, and revise applicable policies, procedures, and job guides
  • Collapse meetings, develop agendas, perform loop closure
  • Develop office procedures
  • Interview for all department subordinate positions
  • Proven written and editing skills
  • Research information/data; incorporate evidence-based practice
  • Use computerized spreadsheets to conduct analysis
  • Strong leadership skills and growth potential
  • Adjunct patient care on unit as needed
