About the role
Samaritan Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Manager to lead their Mental Health Unit (MHU).
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and operational oversight for the Mental Health Unit.
- Ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered behavioral health care.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, employee engagement, performance management, and professional development.
- Recruit, hire, mentor, and retain nursing and support staff.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and monitor clinical outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and hospital standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and senior leadership to support patient care goals.
- Develop departmental plans, manage resources, and support strategic organizational priorities.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Progressive nursing leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong communication, team-building, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
- Behavioral Health, Psychiatric Nursing, or Mental Health Unit leadership experience.
- Previous experience managing inpatient clinical operations.
- Relevant leadership certifications and specialty credentials.

Pay
Pay Range: $50.85 - $76.30 per hour equivalent.
Compensation is based on experience, education, skills, and qualifications. As an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), pay will be provided as a salary equivalent within the stated range. Compensation may vary based on experience and internal equity considerations.
