About the role

The Nurse Manager of the Medical Unit at MercyOne Dubuque is responsible for leading, managing, and advancing operations and processes that support direct or indirect patient care. This position focuses on operations and optimization, guiding the strategic direction of the department and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Directly manages the Medical Unit, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Develops and implements departmental plans, focusing on operational efficiency and patient care outcomes.
• Collaborates with larger teams of health professionals to address long-term patient care needs and improve clinical processes.
• Ensures the department adheres to regulatory requirements and maintains a safe, supportive work environment.
• Employs transformational leadership principles to drive effective patient care, process improvement, and financial outcomes.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Master’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license and at least two (2) years of relevant clinical nursing experience.
• Relevant supervisory experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three (3) months of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter training completed within six (6) months of hire.
• Specialty practice certification preferred.
• Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring, capable of inspiring and motivating others.

Competitive compensation is provided for the Nurse Manager of the Medical Unit at MercyOne Dubuque.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, Day shift hours.
