About the role
The Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery is responsible for overseeing all departmental functions, supporting hospital goals, and ensuring quality patient care. This includes establishing effective relationships with patients, physicians, staff, volunteers, and vendors.
Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains care plans based on RN assessments, ensuring high-quality service delivery
- Manages fiscal and human resources, considering business trends and resource availability
- Ensures compliance with staffing requirements and maintains clinical practice standards during high census or minimal staffing
- Identifies cost-effective systems to support departmental operations and aligns with organizational objectives
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum five years of management experience, including personnel, budgets, and physician relations; L&D experience required
- Current RN license in the relevant state; BLS certification; NRP within 3 months; AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification within a year or documented completion
