Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all Emergency Department nursing operations.
- Promote evidence-based practice and ensure compliance with nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Monitor patient care delivery to ensure quality, safety, and patient satisfaction goals are achieved.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and operational performance.
- Foster a culture of patient safety and support root cause analysis and corrective action planning when needed.
- Manage daily department operations, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Ensure appropriate patient flow and throughput strategies to optimize Emergency Department efficiency.
- Monitor productivity, staffing metrics, and departmental performance indicators.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
- Ensure effective utilization of equipment, supplies, and departmental resources.
- Build strong partnerships with physicians, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Participate in hospital committees and organizational initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with staff, leadership, patients, and families regarding departmental operations and patient care concerns.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Mexico or compact state license.
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience, including Emergency Department experience preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership or management experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
