Nurse for Residential Treatment Facility

About the Role

Granite Recovery Center is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse to provide night-time care for patients in our residential facility, focusing on medically monitored evaluation and withdrawal management.

Responsibilities

• Complete admission procedures, including paperwork, patient orientation, and monitoring urinalysis collection.
• Thoroughly search individuals’ belongings upon admission and properly dispose of any forbidden items.
• Administer and read tuberculosis skin tests.
• Document nursing assessments, treatment plans, physician’s orders, progress notes, and other patient-related data in charts.
• Provide direct care to individuals, monitoring for signs and symptoms of intoxication and withdrawal.
• Deliver medically monitored detoxification services under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.
• Monitor for changes in patient condition and maintain a hygienic, safe work environment.
• Maintain all necessary documentation, including accurate Medication Administration Records.
• Manage and administer medication as ordered by the Medical Director.
• Provide directions to technicians on assigned shifts.
• Develop treatment plans with patients to address medical issues.
• Offer emotional support through listening, counseling, and answering questions.
• Consult with in-house staff and outside professionals to ensure comprehensive, quality care.
• Provide referrals for patient needs that cannot be met by the agency.
• Maintain professional boundaries with clients and interact appropriately.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Unrestricted RN license in the state of New Hampshire.
• Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
• Must pass State of New Hampshire criminal background and driving record checks.
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to physically respond to individuals’ needs in crisis situations.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of the American Society of Addiction Medicine placement criteria and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual as it relates to substance-related disorders (or ability to acquire this knowledge).
• Knowledge of the Code of Ethics for nurses.
• Knowledge of federal drug and alcohol confidentiality law (42 C.F.R. Part 2) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
• Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, outside professionals, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of detox, emergency, or med-surg nursing experience.
• Working knowledge of medical detoxification for substance abuse.
• Familiarity with signs and symptoms of substance intoxication and withdrawal, including pharmacological factors.
• Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
• Experience working with a diverse population.
• Excellent customer service skills.
