Long-term substitute school nurse position providing dedicated, daily medical care to an individual medically complex student, ensuring specific health needs are met to allow for educational participation.
Responsibilities
- Administer medication and perform specialized health procedures (e.g., G-tube feeding, suctioning).
- Manage chronic conditions and document care in compliance with the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Implement IEP health plans, which may include seizure management, catheterization, and feeding.
- Ensure the maintenance of accurate health records for the student.
- Implement emergency care plans in the event of an accident or health event.
- Respect the dignity, confidentiality, and rights of all students and staff; uphold regulations and laws related to confidentiality, reporting of child abuse and neglect, and other health-related requirements.
- Maintain professional competencies through in-service educational activities and self-selected professional growth programs.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Health Coordinator, Building Principal, and other Central Office administrators.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited-licensed nurse program.
- Valid nursing license in the State of Missouri.
- Maintain record of annual continuing education.
- Current CPR Certification.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse.
- Pediatric or special needs experience.
Pay
- RN: Starting at $28.10/hr (plus credit for up to 7 years of relevant experience).
- LPN: $19.16/hr (plus credit for up to 7 years of relevant experience).
Schedule
Potential of 186.5 days dependent on student attendance; 8.0 hours per day. Does not include a 30-minute lunch.
