Clinical Setting
St. David's South Austin Medical Center is a 368-bed acute care hospital offering comprehensive specialty and sub-specialty services. The facility features a nationally accredited oncology program with the region's only adult Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program, a Level II trauma center, advanced cardiac and stroke services, orthopedic services, full-service maternity and newborn care, and four community emergency centers. The hospital is affiliated with the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery, providing advanced robotic capabilities for multiple surgical specialties.
Responsibilities
- Provide essential patient care by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient comfort and hygiene
- Perform nursing tasks including wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and develop competency
- Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care
- Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery
- Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
- Engage in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and partner with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career development plan
Required Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
