Penn State Hershey Medical Center is an Academic Medical Center located in Central Pennsylvania with four‑time Magnet accreditation. The Summer Nurse Externship is a 10‑week program for nursing students entering their final year, running May 17 – July 24, 2027. The program begins with a two‑week orientation (classroom and clinical) and pairs each extern with a Registered Nurse to perform basic bedside care and selected nursing procedures while learning physical assessment and routine basic care skills (bathing, safety, hygiene).
