About the role
CTVHCS is in the process of making a cultural change, shifting from a disease-focused approach to a health and wellbeing approach, in order to implement the Whole Health System of Care. This is a VA-wide initiative to provide a comprehensive and systematic approach to improve healthcare delivery at all stages of Veteran care.
Responsibilities
- Provide competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting.
- Aid in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation.
- Demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
- Provide direct care for acutely/critically ill patients who are at high risk for actual or potential life-threatening health problems, regardless of the setting for nursing care.
- Evaluate practice in an ongoing process based on best evidence.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals.
- Contribute professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team.
- Partner with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes.
- Support colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care.
- Share educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers.
- Question clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care.
- Participate in activities and strategies to sustain an evidence-based-practice culture.
Requirements
- Basic English Language Proficiency.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: ACEN or CCNE.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
- 2-3 years critical care experience (ventilators, vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring, etc.).
- Current Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) Certification.
- Professional Governance participation.
- Evidence of Belt/Systems Redesign training/experience/certification.
Qualifications
- Basic Requirements:
- English Language Proficiency.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: ACEN or CCNE.
- Individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may have opportunity to become registered as a nurse with a state licensing board prior to completion of the bridge program.
- Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Skills
- Ability to distinguish basic colors.
- Ability to distinguish shades of colors.
- Ability to hear (aid may be permitted).
- Ability to perform simple grasping for 2-4 hours.
- Ability to sit for 8 hours.
- Ability to perform fine manipulation for 4-8 hours.
- Ability to twist for 2 hours.
