Nurse Aide 9-month Faculty (F0226)
About the role
Brightpoint Community College is seeking qualified individuals for Nurse Aide Education Coordinator and primary instructor for the Brightpoint Community College Nurse Aide Education Program. This is a full-time nine-month teaching faculty position, with responsibilities that include:
- Delivering instruction in face-to-face, hybrid and/or online formats.
- Assigned courses may include daytime and evening on-campus courses.
- Developing and adjusting curriculum to meet Virginia Board of Nursing requirements.
- Assisting in the identification of clinical partners and supervising student clinicals.
- Ensuring daily lab management tasks are performed efficiently, including: ensuring classroom facilities meet VA Board of Nursing requirements, stocking classrooms with supplies, setting up for classes and examinations with appropriate instructional equipment, maintaining inventory counts, ordering, receiving, and putting away supplies.
- Creating a maintenance and waste management plan and ensuring the lab area is presentable for lead generation meetings and classes.
- Collaborating with faculty at Brightpoint to incorporate shared lab practices and processes.
- Assisting with the development and training for adjunct faculty to serve as instructional staff.
- Assuming the administrative responsibility and accountability for the nurse aide education program by maintaining records and completing appropriate reports.
- Full-time teaching responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of 15-credit hours per semester, engaging students in the learning process, clinical supervision of students, course and curriculum development, student advising, and accurate maintenance of student files.
- Full-time faculty members fully participate in nursing program development and evaluation, college activities, student advising, and committees, and represent Brightpoint at community events and professional opportunities.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Nurse Aide Trainer Certification required.
- Must have five years of experience in medical, surgical, and/or pediatric nursing;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- The ability to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, hybrid, and/or online classes.
- Must be flexible to work at any of the College’s locations and clinical sites.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within and across institutional teams, with a strong commitment to the community college mission.
- Current Commonwealth of Virginia nursing license or compact state nursing license required.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the community college mission.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check required.
Additional Considerations
- Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Experience teaching at the college level,
- Able to use instructional technology,
- Knowledge of Virginia BON regulation and ACEN accreditation criteria.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
