Nupe Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Nupe-English phone interpreter to work remotely from home. This is an independent contractor position with no employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established protocols
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions
• Follow client instructions and adhere to protocol to meet client expectations
• Understand and communicate with clients in various industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law
• Provide cultural sensitivity and handle sensitive topics like end-of-life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters concerning sexual orientation and/or gender expression
• Adapt to any LLS technology enhancements to improve service delivery

Qualifications

• Fluency in Nupe and English with cultural competency
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills
• Ability to remain detached and neutral during interpreting sessions
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred
• Must be able to adapt to LLS technology enhancements
• At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the US
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and write requested languages preferred
