Nuer Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Nuer-English phone interpreter to work remotely from home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established protocols
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout interpreting sessions
• Stay calm and detached during emotionally charged calls
• Follow client instructions and comply with protocol
• Understand and adapt to various industries' terminology and procedures
• Show cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment

Qualifications

• Fluency in Nuer and English
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills
• Cultural competency and ability to handle sensitive topics
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred
• Ability to adapt to LLS technology enhancements
• At least 18 years old
• Licensed to work in the United States
• Ability to read and write requested languages preferred

• Dedicated personal device for business purposes

• No restricted brand devices
• High-speed internet connection with minimum download/upload speeds and ping/jitter values
• Quiet workspace free from background noise

Physical Requirements

• Able to operate a keyboard and mouse
• Sufficient manual dexterity to type/write
• Able to lift up to 26 lbs
• Exposure to moderate noise levels
