Nuer Interpreter
About the role
LanguageLine Solutions is hiring interpreters who can work remotely from their homes. The company provides training and support for interpreters in various industries, including healthcare, law enforcement, and finance.
Responsibilities
- Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and professionally
- Render correct concepts and meanings according to established protocols
- Speak clearly in both Nuer and English, using proper pronunciation and enunciation
- Maintain a professional demeanor throughout interpreting sessions
- Stay calm during emergencies like 911 calls
- Understand and follow protocol for various industries
- Provide cultural sensitivity and handle sensitive topics
Requirements
- Fluency in Nuer and English
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills
- Cultural competency and regional accent awareness
- Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred
- Ability to adapt to LLS technology enhancements
- At least 18 years old
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and write both languages preferred
Qualifications
- Work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship
- Pre-employment background check and drug screen may be required based on location
- Access to a quiet space and high-speed internet connection
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and mouse
- Able to lift up to 26 lbs
