Nuclear Quality Control Inspector

About the role

SHINE Technologies is seeking a Nuclear Quality Control (QC) Inspector to provide inspection and examination support during construction of the SHINE medical isotope production facility. The inspector reviews work packages to ensure compliance with required codes and standards and supports internal and external auditing and surveillance activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform required inspections.
• Identify non-conforming issues and collaborate with management to resolve them; provide quality-improvement recommendations.
• Participate in closure of non-conforming conditions by performing follow-up inspections.
• Recognize QC participation intervals associated with construction installation tasks and coordinate inspections according to craft activity sequence.
• Review third-party NDE/NDT reports.
• Attend Construction Manager Quality meetings as requested.
• Cross-train in additional construction disciplines as required.
• Support a quality-driven culture.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of capital-construction experience (hands-on craft experience and/or inspection experience, with at least 5 years in inspection).
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector.
• Understanding of NDE/NDT processes such as penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, and radiographic testing.
• Experience coordinating and prioritizing visual inspections.
• Technical understanding of construction installation techniques (piping and structural steel).
• Ability to determine corrective action for construction installation deficiencies.
• Familiarity and prior work experience with AWS/ASME codes of construction.
• Proficient computer skills (e.g., Bluebeam, Navisworks or equivalent modeling software, electronic document management systems).
• Understanding of the hierarchy between codes and standards, approved design, and owner’s specifications regarding construction installation requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position access requirements and essential job functions.
• Ability to certify and operate aerial work platform equipment (e.g., scissor lift, boom lift).
• Strong communication skills to interface effectively with all organizational levels, regulators, contractors, and suppliers.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Requires frequent leaning, bending, stooping, crouching, grasping, and reaching above the shoulders and below the knees.
• Moderate physical activity, including handling objects up to 40 pounds or standing/walking for more than four hours per day.
• Fine motor coordination and strong depth perception are beneficial.
• Work involves moderate exposure to elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
• Work environment includes some exposure to hazards or physical risks, requiring adherence to basic safety precautions.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $87,000 – $135,000 per year, plus a comprehensive compensation package. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on qualifying for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls. Additionally, eligibility may require meeting Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements for access to Safeguards Information, including a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting, and criminal background check.
