Nuclear Medicine Technologist
About the role
The technologist will be responsible for performing clinical and research diagnostic and therapeutic molecular imaging protocols, including single photon and PET. They will also be required to perform computed tomography (CT) attenuation correction as ordered in conjunction with SPECT/PET exams. The role involves working with both inpatients and outpatients across various hospital locations, ensuring adherence to radiation safety protocols and patient care guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Completes testing for inpatients and outpatients within various hospital locations.
- Observes and implements radiation safety techniques, including the use of protective shielding and handling of radiopharmaceuticals.
- Takes appropriate precautions to minimize exposure to infectious, radioactive, or biohazard agents.
- Communicates with providers to facilitate diagnostic exam adjustments, as needed.
- Explains the procedure to patients and ensures their full cooperation during testing.
- Performs IV peripheral catheter insertion and Point of Care Testing as authorized by a Nuclear Medicine physician.
- Follows instructions from the Authorized User (AU) physician and nuclear pharmacist for preparing radiopharmaceuticals and conducting quality control tests.
- Determines the appropriate radiopharmaceutical and dose based on established guidelines, consulting with the AU physician when necessary.
- Acquires, processes, and reconstructs images as required, labeling patient images according to hospital requirements.
- Archives patient data for storage.
- Interfaces with computer systems related to the position.
- Coordinates with departments, staff, physicians, study PI, patients/subjects, core, and clinical services.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of advancements in techniques, procedures, and equipment.
- Participates in education programs and meets state requirements for continuing education credits.
- Adheres to SNMMI Nuclear Medicine Technologist Scope of Practice and Performance Standards.
Requirements
- Certificate/Diploma in medical imaging required, Associate's degree preferred.
- Radiologic technologist (Nuclear Medicine) state license required.
- ARRT or NMTCB (NM) certification required within 180 days.
- BLS certification required within 90 days.

Pay
$46.75 - $47.85/hourly grade 5.
Schedule
Day shift, 40 hours per week.
