About the role

The Nuclear Medicine (NM) Technologist at Frankfort Regional Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients through the performance of nuclear medicine and PET CT exams. This position requires adherence to strict protocols, radiation safety practices, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nuclear medicine exams following protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring high quality of care.
  • Receive, calibrate, log, administer and monitor the decay of radioactive isotopes.
  • Provide radiation safety support in the event of a radiation incident/spill.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
  • Record patients' medical information.
  • Carefully coordinate patient flow and check the daily list to ensure all exams are complete.
  • Inform the patient about the procedure and answer questions.
  • Interact and professionally communicate with co-workers, physicians, patients, and family members.
  • Maintain all licenses, certifications, and accreditations required as outlined in Job Qualifications.
  • Adhere to the facility ICARE values.
  • Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
  • Prepare education the patient on discharge instructions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform technical skills and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
  • Properly measure radioactive waste and know how to dispose of it properly in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine.
  • Current registry by CNMT or ARRT (N) is required.
  • BLS required.
  • PET CT experience preferred.

Skills

Knowledge of handling radioactive materials, understanding human growth and development, assessing patients, and performing technical skills and procedures related to nuclear medicine and PET CT exams.
