Responsibilities
- Supervises and performs technical procedures involving nuclear medicine and accessory equipment.
- Demonstrate quality control procedures, troubleshoot equipment issues, and communicate failures.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for injection, ingestion, and inhalation methods.
- Perform diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures, obtain clinical and medical histories, and conduct follow-up examinations.
- Identify and manage sources of radiation contamination, and follow procedures for cleanup and control of radioactive waste.
- Train student technologists and medical students rotating through the department.
- Problem-solve and provide care during imaging studies, ensuring accurate patient identification.
- Maintain a courteous and pleasant demeanor with patients.
- Adhere to SUNY Downstate and departmental policies and procedures, including principles of behavior.
- Use computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information Systems and PACS.
- Work flexible hours, including on-call holiday and emergency coverage.
Requirements
- Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (NMTCB).
- ARRT Certification.
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience or 10 years in Nuclear Medicine preferred.
- Bachelor of Science Degree preferred.
