NTT Assistant Professor of Practice, MSW
Merrimack College’s Master of Social Work program in the Graduate School of Counseling and Social Work seeks an Assistant Professor of Practice (non-tenure track, 9-month faculty) to begin in Spring 2027. The position involves teaching on-campus and online courses in the CSWE-accredited MSW program.
About the role
The faculty member will teach 8 courses (32 credit/contact hours) across fall and spring semesters, advise students, and contribute to program and college initiatives. On-campus courses are scheduled evenings after 4:00 pm; online courses include both asynchronous and synchronous delivery. The role requires confidence and skill in teaching and advising adult learners.
Responsibilities
- Teach a range of social-work courses, including but not limited to:
- Introduction to Social Work Research and Practice
- Evaluation of Social Work Practice
- Contemporary Social Welfare Policy
- Deliver on-campus and online instruction, manage course assessments, and grade student work
- Advise, mentor, and supervise graduate students
- Attend faculty meetings and complete programmatic tasks
- Support the mission of the MSW program, the Graduate School, and the college
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program or CSWE-recognized equivalency
- Doctorate in Social Work or an Ed.D./Ph.D. in a related field
- Minimum 2 years of full-time post-MSW social-work practice
- Minimum 3 years of on-campus and/or online teaching in an MSW program
Preferred Qualifications
- LCSW/LICSW with at least 2 years of post-MSW clinical practice and supervision
- Experience with online course-delivery and assessment platforms
- Experience working with or teaching about multicultural, immigrant, or underserved communities
- Bilingual proficiency in a second language

Pay
The 9-month base salary range (paid over 12 months) is $78,000–$90,000, with the final offer determined by candidate qualifications, experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
