About the role

The School of Nursing is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track Director/Assistant or Associate Professor to teach and lead the MS program for family nurse practitioners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management and administration of the MS in the nursing program.
  • Oversees CCNE Accreditation process.
  • Generates internal and external reports.
  • Maintains program compliance with NYSED and accrediting agencies.
  • Makes sure academic standards are met for the graduate nursing program.
  • Provides academic leadership and oversight for the graduate nursing program.
  • Covers course offerings and faculty assignments.
  • Maintains and evaluates graduate nursing faculty in both didactic and clinical settings.
  • Teaches courses in the MS Program.
  • Participates in Departmental, School, and Campus committees (as appointed).
  • Engages in Departmental and Campus recruitment efforts.
  • Aids in student retention.
  • Maintains high academic standards using appropriate student evaluation mechanisms for assigned courses/programs; analyzes and implements changes based on these programmatic and Departmental outcomes.
  • Facilitates faculty development.
  • Develops and evaluates curricula.
  • Plans, implements, and continuously evaluates course content.
  • Serves as chair and participates in ongoing department and graduate program meetings.
  • Maintains academic quality and complies with regulations of the State Education Department and the requirements for accreditation of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN and NP organizations).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Earned a doctorate in nursing or doctorate (PhD, EdD, DNP) in related field preferred. Will consider candidates who are currently enrolled in a doctoral program or will be soon.
  • Licensed and Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Licensed and board certified Nurse practitioner in the state of New York.
  • At least 5 years of clinical practice and evidence of current and continuing practice; evidence of teaching experience; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.
  • College-level teaching and administrative experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree program.
  • Excellent skills in leadership, supervision, written and oral communication.
