Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

About the Role

The Assistant Professor/Associate Professor – NMW serves as a faculty member within the TTUHSC School of Nursing. This position is responsible for providing high-quality didactic, laboratory, simulation, clinical, and online instruction; contributing to curriculum development and program evaluation; advising and mentoring students; engaging in scholarly and professional activities consistent with faculty rank; and participating in service activities that support the mission and strategic goals of the School of Nursing and the university.

The faculty member reports directly to the appropriate Programmatic Department Chair and collaborates with faculty, staff, students, clinical partners, and community stakeholders to promote excellence in nursing education, scholarship, and service. The ideal candidate is an innovative nurse educator and scholar passionate about preparing the next generation of nursing professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provides academic and clinical instruction within the School of Nursing in online, clinical, laboratory, and classroom settings.
• Plans, coordinates, and conducts online, classroom, and clinical experiences for students, incorporating new knowledge and techniques in teaching.
• Assumes responsibility for and participates in planning and organizing assigned courses while maintaining academic standards set by the school and university.
• Provides academic advising and counseling to assigned students.
• Conducts research or practice activities appropriate to rank and participates in scholarly and academic activities.
• Displays a scholarly orientation as defined in the Guidelines for Qualification of Faculty Appointment Rank.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school, program, course, and student activities.
• Serves on program, school, and university committees and maintains membership in professional associations.
• Plans professional development activities, such as continuing education and workshops.

Requirements

• Master's degree in nursing from an accredited university.
• Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience.
• National certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM).
• Demonstrated record of effectiveness in teaching.
• Documented record of peer-reviewed publication or creative activity contributing to the field, academic quality, and intellectual development.
• Demonstrated potential for continuing growth in research, artistic, or creative initiatives.
• Proven history of professional service appropriate to the academic and nursing disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited university.
• Expertise in the delivery of master's nursing education.
• Demonstrated success in a faculty role as a distance educator with instruction via a variety of modalities.
• At least five years of faculty experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Interest in various strategies and concepts of distance education and willingness to implement professional trends and issues.

Schedule
