About the Role
Academic internship for students seeking school credit through real-world nonprofit experience. This is a startup-style operations internship inside a nonprofit. The infrastructure exists, the programs run, the org is real, but it's still being built, and you'll work directly with the Program Director to help build it further. If you want to understand what it actually takes to build an organization from the inside, not just study it, this is that experience.
What You'll Gain
- Direct mentorship from Program Director Rheanna "caedance" Lauren, working alongside her as she builds the organization
- Real experience writing SOPs and workflows from the ground up
- Practice turning something that works once into something repeatable
- Cross-functional coordination across teams, timelines, and priorities
- Recordkeeping and documentation that support institutional knowledge
- Exposure to fundraising, grants research, and outreach strategy
- Skills that transfer directly to entrepreneurship, operations, and management roles in any field
- Expanded network in LA's nonprofit and music industry space
Tasks
Tasks will shift throughout the semester depending on organizational needs. At different points, you may be:
- Supporting the development and documentation of internal SOPs and workflows
- Coordinating day-to-day program logistics, scheduling, and cross-team communication
- Researching grant and fundraising opportunities and supporting application materials
- Supporting outreach and partnership-building strategy
- Maintaining records and documentation systems for programs, students, and partners
- Assisting with parent and family communications
- Supporting location/site liaison duties
- Contributing to social media content and posting
- Providing general administrative support
- Co-developing lessons or serving as a teaching assistant during youth programming sessions (optional track for musically-inclined interns)
Qualifications
- Must be willing to do a Live Scan, Mandated Reporter Training, and drug test during onboarding
- Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple moving pieces at once
- Interest in systems and process, comfort thinking in terms of "how do we make this repeatable"
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Detail-oriented and comfortable with independent research
- Comfortable in a small, fast-moving startup-style environment
- Musical skill or teaching/mentorship experience is a plus, but not required for this track
