Night Shift Fitter/Welder

About the role

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is searching for Fitter/Welders to join our growing team in our Clinton, IL plant. As a 2nd Shift Fitter/Welder at Meyer Utility Structures, you’ll use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders. You’ll set up, operate and maintain welding equipment. Through the MIG welding process, you’ll be responsible for welding together structural steel and other metals to build utility structure products while implementing safety protocols and procedures. Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete and tubular steel and concrete structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. With over sixty years of innovative engineering and manufacturing expertise, Meyer has helped to author and validate many of today’s transmission industry standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Observe all standard safety practices and follow all safety rules
• Lay out and cut complex subassemblies and/or final product
• Fit and complete final welds and/or multi-pass welds
• Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
• Maintain and complete all required records
• Participate in safety committees and/or other initiatives
• Complete other duties as required including helping to train other employees as needed on new tasks

Requirements & Qualifications

• Applicable welding experience and/or successful completion of weld training and education
• Ability to accurately measure within specified tolerances
• Ability to read blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders
• Flux or Metal Core welding experience (highly preferred)
• Previous experience manufacturing transmission poles or related products (highly desired, but not required)
• A high level of dependability, a great attitude, and ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal

Pay

Pay range $27.50 to $30.00+/hour – Commensurate with Experience. Shift differential pay $1.50/hour.

Schedule

Night Shift hours: 6pm to 4:30am.
