Welder/Fitter Night Shift

About the role

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a motivated and experienced production welder to join our team! This position engages in the full scope of MIG weld processes on a variety of structural steel including (but not limited to) rigid frame columns, rafters, pipe, beam canopy rafters, small parts, clips, and special assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Responsible for coordination of welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow with observed condition of bead
• Reads a tape measure and blueprints to shop standard
• Decides when adjustment or gun manipulation needs to be altered
• Decides how much and what repairs to make for pin holes and burn through caused by auto welder
• Trains and teaches proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures
• Operates overhead crane and other lifting equipment
• Holds bead to specified shape, size and penetrations while maintaining the quality of the product
• Keeps numerical and alphabetical sequences correct
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area
• Regularly talks or hears as part of the job

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience welding in a production environment or valid welding certification
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings
• Ability to obtain and maintain CWB and AWS welding certification in accordance with Cornerstone Building Brands welding procedures
• Experience with a forklift and/or overhead crane operation a plus
• Comfort and familiarity with power hand tools
• Willingness to train, certify, and operate forklift and overhead crane
• Works effectively to meet deadlines
• Works collaboratively within a team environment
• General mathematical knowledge and proficiency with basic measuring instruments
