News Producer

About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day production of our newscasts. You will work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk, and Anchors on the newscast and its content. You will determine the content and flow of newscasts, work with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories, and develop content for our website.

Responsibilities

• Produce daily newscasts with solid news judgment
• Write compelling and accurate stories
• Multitask and manage time to create exciting and informative newscasts
• Work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills
• Execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
• Solve problems on the spot with flexibility
• Use non-linear editing systems (e.g., Avid) and newsroom systems (e.g., iNews)

Requirements

• At least some previous news producing experience at a commercial TV station (entry-level candidates may be considered)
• A journalism degree is preferred
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and nights as needed
