News Producer

About the role

The News Producer will be responsible for the day-to-day production of WCYB/WEMT's newscasts. They will work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk, and Anchors to ensure the newscasts are engaging and informative.

Responsibilities

• Determine the content and flow of newscasts
• Work with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories
• Develop content for the web site
• Show solid news judgment
• Write compelling and accurate stories
• Multitask and manage time effectively
• Put together an exciting and informative newscast
• Work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
• Show strong leadership and communication skills
• Execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
• Show flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities
• Be proficient with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems, such as iNews Experience

Requirements

• At least some previous news producing experience at a commercial TV station
• A journalism degree is preferred

Pay

The hourly compensation range for this role is $19.00 to $23.08. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
